Early career spans Associate and Software Engineer; a 3.10 YOE candidate was hired as Senior (Bangkok, Jun 2025) while a 7 YOE Gurgaon candidate was downleveled to Software Engineer (Oct 2024), so mapping varies by location. Greenhouse titles above Senior use numeric levels: Staff = Level 4, Lead = Level 5 (L5), Principal = L7 (Oct 2026 postings).
Online assessment	HackerRank (official Tech hiring guide; consistent in 2024 to 2026 posts) : Interns: 3 to 4 DSA questions. IC1 contract (July 2025): 3 questions, 75 minutes. Experienced: 1 to 2 DSA plus 1 REST API question using HTTP GET on a paginated mock endpoint (jsonmock.hackerrank.com).

New grad pay	Levels.fyi per-level figures (read 2026-10-04): Thailand Associate Software Engineer total comp about THB 720K/yr (base about THB 709K, small stock and bonus; 17 data points); Software Engineer about THB 1.56M; Senior about THB 2.29M. India: Associate Software Engineer about INR 22 lakh/yr, but from only 2 data points. LeetCode: India SDE intern stipend INR 1 lakh/month (2025 and 2026 posts). Reference point just above early career: Bangkok SSE with 3.10 YOE offered THB 170K/month base + up to 19% performance bonus + THB 340K joining bonus (June 2025).

Interview process¶

New grad¶

Application. Apply on careersatagoda.com (Greenhouse-backed) or LinkedIn, or get referred. Agoda says it aims to respond within a week; no reply in 2 months means it moved on. Agoda says more than 100 openings exist for 0 to 2 years experience across departments.
Agoda coding assessment (HackerRank). Official: a HackerRank online test. Reports: 2 to 3 DSA questions (IC1 contract OA July 2025: 3 questions in 75 minutes); experienced OAs add an HTTP/REST question (fetch a paginated JSON API and compute an answer). Official assessment guide: tests last 30 minutes to an hour; data engineering tests use Python and SQL.
Recruiter screen. Team and role overview, your stack and projects, motivation for Agoda, salary expectations, availability, and relocation to Bangkok if relevant (about 30 minutes).
Coding round. About 60 minutes, LeetCode-style, on HackerRank (durations from SSE and Staff reports; the official guide gives none). Official guide: assesses problem solving, critical and systematic thinking, code efficiency and CS knowledge (algorithms, data structures, complexity). Agoda Engineering (2023 post) says a working solution matters more than an optimal one and you must prove correctness with tests.
Platform round. Depth in your specialization (official 2025 guide). The 2023 Agoda Engineering post describes it as designing a feature for the Agoda site, app or backend across frontend, backend and data layers, then reviewing, fixing and improving a given code snippet ('play the role of a lint tool'). 2025 to 2026 SSE and Staff reports match: improve a given architecture plus a code review.
System design round. Architecture with practical design choices and clear reasoning; sometimes framed as improving a partially complete design.
Culture fit / hiring manager round. Values alignment and collaborative work style; behavioral questions answered with the CAR method (Context, Action, Results).
Decision. Official: final decision typically within 2 weeks of the last round, by email. Local hires can join about 2 weeks after accepting; international relocation takes 2 to 4 months.

Intern¶

Online assessment (HackerRank). 3 to 4 DSA questions (arrays, stacks, graphs, palindromic substrings, fixed-bound subarrays). India 2025 summer OA: 3 questions (1 easy, 2 medium). One Gurugram candidate claims about 10,000 applicants, about 500 shortlisted after the OA and resume, 66 invited on site (May 2026).
Round 1: DSA and CS fundamentals. In person at the Gurugram office for India interns (2 eliminatory rounds), pseudo-code on paper in at least one report; 1 to 2 DSA problems (3Sum, hashing, greedy; Group Anagrams and a stack-based parsing problem in another onsite) plus a DB schema design (e.g. PVR cinema), networking (DNS routing), load balancing and rate limiting concepts, and project questions.
Round 2: platform / experience. Varies: system design for a chat app with read receipts and a SQL schema plus Docker questions; or internship deep dive with DBMS, OS and software engineering basics and a practical DSA problem; or a 15 minute exercise solving an HTML/CSS task with an AI agent where constraints were deliberately twisted so the AI fails (May 2026). Both rounds are eliminatory.
Result. Reported from 1 to 2 days up to about a month after on-site rounds. India stipend reported at INR 1 lakh/month.

With 1 to 3 years of experience¶

Most lateral write-ups are Senior Software Engineer loops (3.10 to 8+ YOE, Bangkok or Gurugram): HackerRank OA (1 DSA + 1 REST API question), a 60 minute coding round (3Sum, Longest Substring Without Repeating Characters, binary search or jump-game DP variants), a Platform round (improve a bookings-by-date-range API with caching, rate limiting, auth, UTC date handling; or complete a partial design and review a given code block), an architecture/LLD round (e.g. build a shadow-testing framework comparing old and new function outputs), and a hiring manager round (mentorship, mistakes, experiments, trade-offs, conflict, relocation). Recruiters share prep docs and links per round (Aug 2025 report). One SSE process (8+ YOE) took 2 months from LinkedIn application to offer. Agoda also runs 'Fast track 1-Day Program' hiring events for Staff backend roles in Bangkok (2026 postings and a Sep 2026 report). New in 2026: a 10+ YOE candidate was scheduled for a 2 hour 'AI assisted pilot' system design round (Mar 2026). Downleveling at offer stage is reported (Gurgaon SSE offered SE, Oct 2024).

Online assessment¶

Platform: HackerRank (official Tech hiring guide; consistent in 2024 to 2026 posts)
Format: Interns: 3 to 4 DSA questions. IC1 contract (July 2025): 3 questions, 75 minutes. Experienced: 1 to 2 DSA plus 1 REST API question using HTTP GET on a paginated mock endpoint (jsonmock.hackerrank.com).
Notes: HackerRank function-stub format. Make all hidden test cases pass; one candidate notes correct logic can still fail cases on HackerRank. Agoda's official assessment guide recommends a practice round to build speed and a stable internet connection.

Coding rounds¶

Rounds: Intern: 1 to 2 rounds with DSA. Full time: 1 coding round plus coding inside the Platform round (code review and fixes).
Style: LeetCode easy to medium in live rounds (3Sum, Group Anagrams, Longest Substring), harder in OAs (Count Subarrays With Fixed Bounds, Maximum OR). Agoda Engineering: 'We don't need highly challenging problems'; the focus is approach, testing and readable code.
Environment: HackerRank for remote rounds (you can run code); pen and paper pseudo-code for India intern on-site rounds. Use the language you are most comfortable with. No AI during interviews unless explicitly allowed (official AI policy).
Graded on: Testing skills, critical and systematic thinking, code efficiency and readability, CS knowledge; a working, tested solution beats a non-functional optimal one; proactively discuss complexity (Agoda Engineering blog).

Beyond LeetCode¶

Platform round with code review: you are given a code snippet to understand, debug, improve and lint; or a partially complete design to critique. OA REST API question (paginated HTTP GET, aggregate and return the best result). LLD prompts such as a shadow-testing framework. 2026 intern round where the candidate had to solve an HTML/CSS task with an AI agent and detect why the agent failed. 2026 senior loops: a 2 hour 'AI assisted pilot' system design round (10+ YOE, Mar 2026). Official AI policy: AI fine for preparation and polishing your resume; not allowed during interviews, live system design, technical Q&A, behavioral or take-homes unless stated; no invisible AI tools.

System design¶

Appears even for interns: chat app with one-to-one, group and read receipts plus SQL schema; DB schema for a cinema; load balancing and rate limiting concepts. Full-time early career: a Platform round (design an Agoda feature across layers, plus code review) and a System Design round. Official tips for the Platform round: discuss requirements first, lead the conversation, go top to bottom, write it like technical documentation, draw a sequence diagram, discuss trade-offs, metrics and testing.

Tips¶

Read Agoda's official Tech interview guide and the Agoda Engineering post 'Preparing for Interview at Agoda' before anything else; they describe each round and what is scored.
Practice HackerRank specifically, including the REST API problem type (paginated HTTP GET); laterals report 1 DSA + 1 API question.
In the coding round, get a working, tested solution first, test both true and false cases, and state complexity before you are asked.
Prepare for the Platform round by reviewing real code: practice finding bugs and naming improvements in a 50 to 100 line snippet, and designing a feature across frontend, backend and data layers with a sequence diagram.
Write 5 CAR stories, one per value: Do things the right way; Move fast and be efficient; Be a scientist; Take ownership; Be direct and respectful.
Follow the AI policy: use AI to prepare, never during interviews or take-homes unless told; invisible AI tools are banned.
If you are outside Thailand, check the job post for 'relocation provided'; English is the business language and onboarding with visa takes 2 to 4 months.
India students: watch the Gurugram 6-month SDE intern cycles (shortlisting and OA in November and April in 2025 to 2026, on-site in late May 2026) and expect pen-and-paper pseudo-code plus DB schema and networking basics on site.

4-week plan for Agoda¶
