Interview process

New grad

  1. Online assessment. Off-campus SE1 OA (Jan to Feb 2026 posts, location not stated): 3 parts, 1 DSA + 1 SQL (joins, GROUP BY, HAVING) + 1 Bash task; candidates who skipped SQL/Bash asked if they could still advance. Nov 2025 SE1 OA: one DSA problem shared as a screenshot. Earlier off-campus SE1 OA (2024 Bangalore drive, posted Jul 2025): 5 coding questions (2 easy, math/geometry, binary search on answer, grid DP). Glider.ai is the platform named for the India campus OA and for live DSA in interviews; the off-campus OA platform is not named in posts.
  2. Uptime Crew track (SE1, Nov 2025 to 2026). Many SE1 applicants were routed to an Intuit assessment run by Uptime Crew: an assessment (reported as a 90-min assignment, or a take-home finished within 3 hours), then a 30-min 1:1 'recruiter' interview with Uptime Crew, then status 'In review' for days to weeks. Posts rarely state location; the one with full details (May 2026, 1.5 YOE) was India. Uptime Crew's site says it 'recruits, evaluates, and develops technical talent' (AI Native Engineers, data center technicians) and does not mention Intuit.
  3. Build Challenge. Take-home build exercise after the Uptime/recruiter step (one candidate spent about 5 hrs, Jan 2026); a Mar 2026 candidate in India moved from the Build Challenge to a tech screen. Format reported to feel like machine coding; details not public.
  4. Tech screen. 30-min 1:1 technical screen after the Build Challenge (Mar 2026 reports, India). US/experienced equivalent is the TPI (Technical Phone Interview), 60 to 90 min: DSA plus system and AI discussion. A Sep 2025 SWE phone screen (PracHub): 45 min algorithms (one medium, one easy palindrome check in a React setting) + 30 min AI Q&A, including how to make a GPT API call return only JSON.
  5. A4A final loop ('Assess for Awesome'). Same-day virtual loop. Intuit's own blog (Jul 2025) calls it 'Assess for Awesome (A4A)'; candidates also write 'Assessing for Awesome'. Reported SE1/SE2 structure: (1) Introduction + Craft Demonstration, 90 min, present a short slide intro of yourself and a project, then live-code user stories in a pre-shared repo (Python or Java, Flask or Spring Boot), add APIs, handle errors, write unit tests; (2) Technical / Assessor, 60 min, design follow-ups plus a DSA problem on Glider; (3) AI round, 30 min, LLM concepts and an AI user story; (4) Hiring manager, 30 min. Official hiring page: Interview Set-Up (engineers get 90 min to download tools and solve a technical question on their own to present in the demo), Craft Demonstration (60 min, 4 hiring team members), Assessors (45 min, 2 assessors), Team Member values interview (30 min, 1 assessor), Manager (30 to 60 min).
  6. Decision. Official page commits to feedback within 24 hours of the final interview; candidates report a recruiter call within a few days.

Intern

  1. India on-campus OA. Proctored on campus, Glider platform, 4 DSA questions in 90 min, easy to hard (prefix sums, Find Median from Data Stream, Alien Dictionary variant, Dungeon Game), reported in Jul 2026 and in a Sep 2026 NSUT Delhi post. 16 students made it to interviews in that drive. A separate 'FY26 Intuit India Summer Intern Assessment' (Sep 2025) had 4 problems.
  2. Technical interview 1. Resume and project deep dive (ML project follow-ups), then CS fundamentals from scratch (OOP was the candidate's pick), production experience questions.
  3. Technical interview 2. DSA on Glider (implement LRU cache from scratch including main()), then OOP constructors/destructors, mutex, OS scheduling, threads vs processes, DBMS (views, normalization, indexing, caching). 8 students reached this round and 4 were selected; result came the same day.
  4. Off-campus India co-op (6 months). OA with 4 medium to hard DSA, then 2 technical rounds: CS fundamentals (OOP, DBMS, OS, networks, crypto basics like RSA and hashing), binary search, math + DP, SQL query, C++ overloading/overriding output (Nov 2024 report).
  5. US summer intern. Summer only, 12 weeks; no US co-ops and no fall or spring internships (official FAQ). Hybrid at least 3 days a week on-site, office assigned by Intuit, not chosen by the candidate (US sites: Mountain View, San Diego, Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Oakland, Charlotte). Full-time offers 'are not guaranteed' (official FAQ). Summer 2027 SWE intern requisitions (full stack, iOS, Android, cybersecurity) were live by early Oct 2026 per the SimplifyJobs Summer2027-Internships list (GitHub, 47.9k stars, updated Oct 4, 2026). US intern loop details are not well reported for 2025 to 2026.

With 1 to 3 years of experience

SE2 (about 2 to 4 yrs): TPI or 'eliminator' round (DSA + GenAI discussion + sometimes a prompt-writing task) then the 4-round A4A loop. Craft Demo for SE2 is the same repo exercise with harder design grilling (pagination, rate limiting, global exception handling, security, service vs data layer). Some SE2 loops pre-assign a design take-home (e.g. key generation service with LLD, HLD, code, and slides). AI round covers RAG, vector DBs, system prompts, temperature, evaluating whether a model is trained enough. Staff loops add a 75-min TPI (45 min DSA + 30 min AI) and a 1.5-hr case study.

Online assessment

  • Platform: Glider.ai (India campus OA and live DSA inside interview rounds); Uptime Crew assessment for SE1 since late 2025; off-campus SE1 OA platform not named in posts
  • Format: Campus intern: 4 DSA in 90 min, proctored. SE1 off-campus 2026: DSA + SQL + Bash (3 questions). Earlier SE1 (2024 drive): 5 coding questions
  • Notes: SQL and shell are scored, so do not skip them. Glider is also used live in interview rounds for coding.

Prepare with How to pass an OA and compare formats in OA formats by company.

Coding rounds

  • Rounds: New grad India: 1 to 2 DSA problems inside technical rounds; A4A: Craft Demo coding + 1 DSA in the Technical/Assessor round
  • Style: LeetCode easy to medium (linked lists, strings, DP like Edit Distance, grids) plus practical feature work in a real codebase
  • Environment: Glider for DSA; your own local IDE with the pre-shared repo for Craft Demo (set it up days before, run it, test with Postman); Zoom screen share
  • Graded on: Clarifying requirements before coding (they withhold details on purpose), API design, edge cases and error handling, unit tests (controller and service tests 'a must'), speed, and explaining every line
  • Reported focus topics: REST API design and extension in Java/Spring Boot or Python/Flask, Unit and integration testing, GenAI basics: RAG, prompts, temperature, vector DBs, LLM error handling, DP (grid, edit distance), Linked lists and strings, Heaps and LRU cache, Graphs (topological order), SQL (joins, GROUP BY/HAVING) and Bash, CS fundamentals for India campus: OOP, OS, DBMS, networks, Concurrency (producer-consumer)

Run every practice problem through the 45-minute framework and the code quality rubric.

What they ask (data)

Based on 13 distinct problems tagged to Intuit in the last 6 months (4 in the last 30 days, 7 in the last 3 months, 66 all-time) across two open datasets of LeetCode company tags. Tags are user-reported, so treat frequency as a signal, not a promise.

Difficulty mix (last 6 months): Hard 46%, Medium 38%, Easy 15%

Most tagged topics (share of problems): Array 54%, Dynamic Programming 54%, String 46%, Memoization 23%, Breadth-First Search 23%, Matrix 15%, Two Pointers 15%, Heap (Priority Queue) 15%, Math 15%, Stack 15%

Watch out: Intuit has thin LeetCode data. Weight the reported questions and the format notes above more than this list.

Beyond LeetCode

Craft Demonstration: prepare a short slide deck intro, then implement user stories live in a provided repo (add or extend REST endpoints, compute derived fields, add tests), including an 'AI story' that calls a provided LLM with system and user prompts and handles parsing, timeouts, and fallbacks. AI round: conceptual GenAI questions (RAG, prompts, temperature, vector similarity). Build Challenge take-home and Uptime Crew assessment for India SE1. Some SE2 loops: pre-assigned design take-home presented with slides.

System design

New grad: no standalone HLD round, but Craft Demo and Assessor rounds probe design (schema changes, relational vs graph DB, pagination, resiliency, rate limiting). SE1 India via Uptime track has an LLD round (producer-consumer, Java streams). SE2: HLD discussion in the TPI (CAP, ACID, zero-downtime APIs) plus design grilling in Craft Demo.

Start with who needs system design, then the framework.

Behavioral

Framework: Intuit Values: Integrity Without Compromise, Courage, Customer Obsession, Stronger Together, We Care and Give Back (official page)

What they look for:

  • Customer obsession (falling in love with the customer problem)
  • Ownership end to end, from design doc to monitoring
  • Collaboration across teams ('boundaryless collaboration' in Intuit's own interview blog)
  • Bias for learning and action, including AI adoption
  • Clear, honest communication

Questions to prepare:

  • Why Intuit? Why are you a fit for this role? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
  • How do you manage work pressure, and why are you switching?
  • How do you resolve conflicts with a team lead?
  • How do you incorporate customer feedback?
  • Your junior's model scores 95% on test data but 10% in production. Guide them.
  • Tell us about the cool things that aren't on your resume (Craft Demo intro, official page)

Build your answers with the story bank. Company detail: behavioral guide.

Tips

  • Clone and run the pre-shared repo days before the A4A loop; you will be asked to add endpoints live and should not lose time on setup.
  • Ask clarifying questions before coding in the Craft Demo; one candidate said requirements are withheld on purpose to see how you design the API.
  • Write controller and service unit tests during the Craft Demo; a Jan 2026 candidate called them 'a must'.
  • Prepare a 3 to 5 slide intro (you, one project you are proud of); several loops asked for it.
  • Learn GenAI fundamentals (RAG, system vs user prompts, temperature, parsing LLM output, timeouts and fallbacks); the AI round appears even for non-AI roles.
  • Practice SQL and simple Bash: the 2026 SE1 OA scored DSA, SQL, and Bash separately.
  • For India campus roles, revise OOP, OS, DBMS, and networks; interviewers spend half the round on fundamentals.
  • Know Java and Python well enough to code in either: repos are offered only in Python or Java.

4-week plan for Intuit

Do this after you finish a core list like Grind 75 or NeetCode 150.

  • Week 1: Solve problems 1 to 20 from the most frequent list. Time-box each at 30 minutes.
  • Week 2: Solve problems 21 to 40. Re-solve any you failed in week 1 without looking.
  • Week 3: Solve the signature problems and every reported question above. Do 2 timed mock interviews.
  • Week 4: Write 8 stories for the Intuit Values: Integrity Without Compromise, Courage, Customer Obsession, Stronger Together, We Care and Give Back round. Do 2 full mock loops. Review the online assessment and system design notes above.

Sources

Watch out: Most 2025 to 2026 reports are India (Bangalore) SE1/SE2 and US Staff; US new grad and US intern loops are thinly documented. The official hiring page describes a generic loop (Craft Demo 60 min, Assessors 45 min, Team Member 30 min, Manager 30 to 60 min) that differs from candidate reports (Craft Demo 90 min, Technical 60 min, AI 30 min, Manager 30 min), so give both. 'A4A' is named 'Assess for Awesome (A4A)' in Intuit's own blog post (published Mar 2025, updated Jul 22, 2025; a principal engineer's account, not a new grad guide). The Uptime Crew partnership is reported only by candidates (Nov 2025 to May 2026); Uptime Crew's own site does not name Intuit. Build Challenge format is not public. No candidate post in this set names HackerRank for Intuit, so it was dropped as an OA platform. The SE1 job posting (posted Aug 14, 2025, category 'New College Grad') lists '$55.5 to $75' for Mountain View, which is most likely an hourly range (about $115K to $156K a year at 2,080 hrs); not used. Levels.fyi lists a few Summer 2027 intern entries near $80/hr that look like outliers and were not used. The values page (intuit.com/company/operating-values) rate-limits scripted fetches (HTTP 429); its content was confirmed from a Sep 14, 2026 Wayback snapshot. Recently changed: AI round added to every loop; SQL + Bash added to the SE1 OA (2026); third-party Uptime Crew screening for SE1.
