| Behavioral | Flipkart values on the official About Us page (Oct 2026): Audacity, Bias for Action, Customer First, Integrity, Inclusion. The older official SDE prep PDF lists the first four only and describes separate Team Fitment and Culture Fitment rounds; in 2025 to 2026 reports the hiring manager round covers both. |
| Timeline | Campus: GRiD 8.0 team-formation and registration posts appeared from 21 June 2026, profile-shortlist results by about 15 July, OA on 18 to 19 July 2026; GRiD 7.0 OA was 12 to 13 July 2025. Fresher off-campus OA 14 April 2025 with shortlist emails about a week later. Lateral SDE 2: a Jan 2026 drive ran from application in week 1 of January to an HR call a week after the drive and the offer letter the following week; another loop ran March to June 2026; a third ran 13 June 2026 MC, 19 June MC evaluation, 2 July design (LLD), 15 July rejection call. Offer-letter and joining-date delays are frequently reported: offer letters arriving 2 weeks to 1 month after selection, and DOJ-change letters taking about 2.5 weeks (Feb to Apr 2026 LeetCode threads, one HR citing financial-year-end processing). Official: hiring committee review after interviews; 6 month cooling period after a failed interview; only one active application at a time. |
| New grad pay | Levels.fyi per-level figures (India, read 2026-10-04 at the site's rate of INR 94.53 per USD): SDE 1 total comp about INR 22.4 lakh/yr (avg base about INR 19.3 lakh, stock about INR 1.9 lakh/yr, bonus about INR 1.2 lakh); SDE 2 about INR 36.2 lakh. LeetCode offers: 2025 new grad SDE 1 Bengaluru base INR 18 lakh + INR 3 lakh signing (2-year clawback) + INR 3 lakh retention in year 2 + INR 5.07 lakh ESOPs over 4 years + INR 1.8 lakh variable (May 2025); SDE 1 with 1 YOE about INR 29 lakh TC (base INR 19 lakh) (May 2025). SWE intern stipend INR 1 lakh/month for 6 months via GRiD 6.0 (Jan 2025). A GRiD 8.0 OA post title claims '35 LPA CTC' for the 2026 cycle (candidate claim, unverified). |

Interview process¶
New grad¶
- Campus or off-campus application. On campus through college placement cells; off campus through the TurboHire job board linked from flipkartcareers.com. Flipkart GRiD (listed on the official Campus page as a 'technovation challenge') is the main national route for engineering students. The off-campus OA for 2025 graduates was held on 14 April 2025; shortlist emails arrived about a week later (LeetCode posts).
- Online assessment. 3 DSA questions in 60 to 90 minutes, roughly 1 easy, 1 medium, 1 hard (topics: arrays, sorting, DP, graphs, trees). Partial test-case credit counts: one 2025-grad candidate who solved 2 fully and 1 partially was shortlisted, another passed 29 of 36 test cases and was still waiting. April 2025 fresher OA statements were long story problems with STDIN/STDOUT input (weighted interval scheduling, uncrossed lines).
- PSDS round 1 (Problem Solving and Data Structures). About 60 minutes with an SDE 3. 2 DSA questions written in a Google Doc or as pseudocode, with time and space complexity. Example (campus, Dec 2024): Minimum Window Substring and Daily Temperatures. Interviewer pushes on optimizations.
- PSDS round 2 or backend/CS fundamentals round. Either 2 to 3 more DSA problems (Longest Substring Without Repeating Characters, Coin Change, a small LLD discussion; Dec 2024 campus AMA) or a backend round: language runtime (Node.js event loop, threads), DB design (hotel order management entities) and OS (process vs thread, context switching) (a July 2025 SDE 1 post that does not state experience level).
- Hiring manager round. Manager, Director or Senior Director. Resume, projects, skills, and CS fundamentals (OOP, DBMS, Computer Networks, OS). For campus hires it can be a light background conversation.
- Hiring committee review and offer. Official: interviewer feedback goes to an independent hiring committee that, with interviewers and recruiters, takes a collective call; then the recruiter shares feedback and rolls out the offer.
Intern¶
- GRiD Round 1: profile shortlist. GRiD 8.0 (2026) started with resume or profile based shortlisting; Round 2 invites went out by about 15 to 16 July 2026 (LeetCode posts). Applicants posting on LeetCode are B.Tech students (pre-final year). GRiD 6.0 Round 1 was run on Unstop (LeetCode, Jan 2025).
- GRiD Round 2: online coding assessment. Changed in 2026. GRiD 8.0 (18 to 19 July 2026): 120 minutes, 4 questions: 2 DSA (15 marks each), 1 SQL (10 marks), 1 DataFrame coding question in Python only (15 marks), e.g. a full customer risk analysis pipeline. GRiD 7.0 (12 to 13 July 2025): 3 DSA questions in 90 minutes, easy to medium-hard, editor without copy-paste and a C++11 compiler reported; a later 1-hour round had very hard problems (Rectangle Area II, a USACO problem).
- GRiD later stages. GRiD 7.0 had a further 1 hour coding round with 3 very hard problems on 19 July 2025 (Rectangle Area II, a USACO problem, a topological-sort string problem). GRiD 6.0 path reported: Round 1 on Unstop, OA on SHL, then two DSA-based interviews, then a 6-month SWE intern offer (Jan 2025). No official description of post-OA GRiD stages or prizes was verified.
- On-campus 6M+FTE OA. 3 'classic' questions (string comparison, 8-direction DFS, knight moves); the poster was one of about 21 students at a Tier-1 college who cleared the OA (Aug 2025).
- On-campus intern interview. Code and dry run on test cases: Alien Dictionary, then Course Schedule III with follow-ups to optimize the DP; rejection if you cannot optimize (Aug 2025).
With 1 to 3 years of experience¶
For 1 to 3+ yrs (SDE 1 lateral and SDE 2) the loop is design-heavy, usually run as hiring drives: (1) OA on HackerEarth, 2 questions (graph, trie, DP; e.g. Find Median from Data Stream, Earliest Moment Everyone Becomes Friends), 75 to 120 minutes, sometimes given after the machine coding round with a stated cutoff (50 of 70 marks); (2) Machine coding: 30 minute problem briefing on a Google Meet with 30 to 60 candidates, then 90 minutes (official doc: 120 minute block of 15 pre-coding, 90 coding, 15 demo) to build a runnable, in-memory, command-line app in any language in your own IDE, zipped and submitted via Google Form; AI tools prohibited; SDE 1 machine coding drives were also reported (14 Aug 2025); (3) Machine coding evaluation: 30 to 90 minute viva where interviewers run test cases, ask for new features, probe concurrency and design patterns; (4) PSDS: 2 medium DSA on board/Doc, pseudocode accepted; (5) Design: LLD-flavored (entities, schema, APIs, service code in a Google Doc) or HLD (a LeetCode-like platform at SDE 2; Uber and an in-depth Rate Limiter were reported by 6 to 7 YOE senior candidates) drawn on Excalidraw; (6) Hiring manager: project architecture walkthrough, production incidents, scaling questions, behavioral (ownership, conflict, ambiguity). Weak MC can end the loop even with strong PSDS (Cleartrip SDE-1, Oct 2025). AI Engineer track (2026): OA, HM, AI design and AI machine coding rounds; one AI Engineer 2 candidate got a 1-hour AI coding round using Claude Code in plan mode (Jun 2026).
Online assessment¶
- Platform: HackerEarth for lateral SDE and frontend roles (2025 to 2026 posts). GRiD: Unstop-hosted challenge; GRiD 6.0 OA on SHL. Platform for 2025 fresher OA not named in posts.
- Format: Fresher/campus: 3 DSA questions, 60 to 90 minutes. Lateral SDE 2: 2 questions (DP, graph, trie, heap), 75 to 120 minutes. GRiD 8.0 (2026): 2 DSA + 1 SQL + 1 Python DataFrame question, 120 minutes, marks weighted 15/15/10/15.
- Notes: Long story-style statements with STDIN/STDOUT ('do not print arbitrary strings'). Partial test-case credit counts. For GRiD 8.0, 2 of the 3 candidates who described their attempt did not finish the DataFrame question; practice SQL and pandas transformations if you are a GRiD applicant. One GRiD 8.0 candidate refreshed the page after an 'internal server error' and could not log back in (Jul 2026), so do not refresh mid-test. GRiD 7.0 editor reportedly blocked copy-paste and used C++11.
Prepare with How to pass an OA and compare formats in OA formats by company.
Coding rounds¶
- Rounds: New grad: 1 to 2 PSDS rounds after the OA. Experienced: 1 machine coding + 1 MC evaluation + 1 PSDS.
- Style: PSDS: LeetCode medium to hard, often wrapped in a Flipkart story (House Robber IV as 'server maintenance', discounted delivery routes). Official doc lists arrays, linked lists, stacks, queues, hash maps, trees, graphs, heaps and string manipulation, two pointers, searching, sorting, backtracking, bit manipulation, DP. Machine coding is practical OOD, not LeetCode.
- Environment: PSDS: Google Doc, paper or whiteboard (official doc: 'on paper/whiteboard'); code usually not run. Machine coding: your own laptop and IDE, any language, must be executable and demoable via a driver/main or tests; no DB, no UI, no HTTP API; internet allowed only for syntax; AI tools prohibited. Frontend MC on HackerEarth.
- Graded on: MC (from a 2026 problem sheet): demoable and functionally correct code, readability, entity modeling, modularity and extensibility, separation of concerns, abstractions, exception handling, comments, edge cases, concurrency where asked. PSDS: approach, complexity, edge cases, choice of data structure, clear communication, dry runs.
- Reported focus topics: Machine coding / LLD in code: OOP, SOLID, Strategy, Factory, Observer, custom exceptions, in-memory repositories, driver programs, Concurrency basics for machine coding (thread-safe assignment, two requests at the same time), Graphs: BFS/DFS, topological sort (Alien Dictionary, course schedules, dish dependencies), union-find, Dijkstra variants, articulation points, Dynamic programming on arrays and strings, Sliding window and two pointers, Heaps and priority queues (median of stream, scheduling), Trees: traversals, LCA, path sums, Binary search on answer (House Robber IV, baskets), DB schema and API design for booking-style systems, SQL and pandas DataFrames (GRiD 8.0 OA)
Run every practice problem through the 45-minute framework and the code quality rubric.
What they ask (data)¶
Based on 9 distinct problems tagged to Flipkart in the last 6 months (3 in the last 30 days, 4 in the last 3 months, 113 all-time) across two open datasets of LeetCode company tags. Tags are user-reported, so treat frequency as a signal, not a promise.

Beyond LeetCode¶
Machine coding round (build BNPL, Flipkart Minutes quick commerce, food ordering, distributed task scheduler, conference room booking, restaurant ordering, gym management in 90 to 120 minutes) followed by a code-review viva where you extend your code live and sketch a UML class diagram. super.money variant (May 2026): fix a partially implemented in-memory log query engine in Java until failing unit tests pass. Design rounds written in Google Docs (entities, schema, APIs, service classes). GRiD 8.0 OA includes SQL and a pandas DataFrame pipeline. Frontend PSDS asks JS problems (flat list to folder tree, promise pool with concurrency limit). AI Engineer 2 (2026): 1-hour AI coding round driving Claude Code in plan mode with your own paid model access.
System design¶
New grads: usually no full system design; a light LLD question or DB schema design (hotel order management) can appear in a PSDS or backend round, and a Dec 2024 campus hire advises learning basic HLD. SDE 1 lateral and SDE 2: machine coding (LLD in code) plus a 60 minute design round that is often LLD/schema-centric: requirements, entities, DB schema with every table, APIs, service layer code, concurrency for seat booking (Airline ticketing, Cleartrip booking, customer-care issue resolution with auditability, Meeting Room booking, IRCTC search DB design). Some SDE 2 loops get HLD (a LeetCode-like platform with schema, APIs and an Excalidraw diagram, Jun 2026). Senior loops (6 to 7 YOE) reported Design Uber and an in-depth Rate Limiter. Official doc: design is either System Design ('Design Twitter') or OOD ('Design a Parking Lot').
Start with who needs system design, then the framework.
Behavioral¶
Framework: Flipkart values on the official About Us page (Oct 2026): Audacity, Bias for Action, Customer First, Integrity, Inclusion. The older official SDE prep PDF lists the first four only and describes separate Team Fitment and Culture Fitment rounds; in 2025 to 2026 reports the hiring manager round covers both. (official page)
What they look for:
- Ownership of your project: explain architecture and your own contribution clearly (one SDE 2 was rejected for not articulating contributions, Jun 2026)
- Aspirations, self-awareness, leadership, stakeholder management, strengths and weaknesses (official Team Fitment description)
- Honesty about failures; intent and commitment over success (official tips)
- Passion and energy; it is a discussion, not an interrogation (official tips)
- Technical sharpness even in HM rounds: scaling, pods, traffic distribution, microservice patterns
Questions to prepare:
- Walk me through your current project architecture and draw the main components.
- What production issues have you faced and how did you resolve them?
- Why are you leaving your current company?
- What would you do if a production issue occurs in your service?
- Tell me about a time you resolved a conflict or handled ambiguity (LP-style questions reported in an SDE 2 HM round).
- How could the architecture of your current system be improved?
Build your answers with the story bank. Company detail: behavioral guide.
Tips¶
- Practice 5 to 6 machine coding problems end to end in 90 minutes each (BNPL, Flipkart Minutes, food ordering, task scheduler, meeting room booking): in-memory store, driver main, custom exceptions, one Strategy you can swap live.
- Finish all P0 features with running code before touching bonus items; one SDE 2 candidate says reviewers prioritized correct running code over neat patterns.
- Treat the MC evaluation as a viva: know every class, justify each pattern, expect a new requirement, a concurrency question and a request for a UML diagram.
- In PSDS, write pseudocode with complexity in a Doc or on paper and dry run; start with brute force, then optimize out loud.
- For design rounds, write requirements, entities, a complete schema (one SDE 2 candidate who forgot the payments table in an airline booking schema got a Weak Hire), APIs and seat-locking approach in the Doc as you talk.
- GRiD applicants: add SQL and pandas practice; the 2026 OA had 2 DSA, 1 SQL and 1 DataFrame question in 120 minutes. Do not refresh the test page mid-OA.
- Read the official SDE prep PDF and the About Us values, then prepare one story each for Audacity, Bias for Action, Customer First, Integrity and Inclusion.
- If you fail, the cooling period is 6 months; for India resumes keep skills and projects prominent (Jugal's country resume post: https://jugaldb.substack.com/p/4-resume-templates-based-on-your).
- Budget 2 to 4 weeks between verbal selection and the offer letter for lateral roles; 2026 candidates report document collection first, then the letter (Feb to Apr 2026 posts). Keep your notice period plans flexible.
4-week plan for Flipkart¶
Do this after you finish a core list like Grind 75 or NeetCode 150.
- Week 1: Solve problems 1 to 20 from the most frequent list. Time-box each at 30 minutes.
- Week 2: Solve problems 21 to 40. Re-solve any you failed in week 1 without looking.
- Week 3: Solve the signature problems and every reported question above. Do 2 timed mock interviews.
- Week 4: Write 8 stories for the Flipkart values on the official About Us page (Oct 2026): Audacity, Bias for Action, Customer First, Integrity, Inclusion. The older official SDE prep PDF lists the first four only and describes separate Team Fitment and Culture Fitment rounds; in 2025 to 2026 reports the hiring manager round covers both. round. Do 2 full mock loops. Review the online assessment and system design notes above.

The official prep PDF is undated and describes a 120 minute MC block plus separate Team and Culture fitment rounds; 2025 to 2026 candidates report 90 minute MC and a combined HM round, so the PDF may be older than current practice. Very few 2025 to 2026 campus SDE 1 write-ups exist; the campus process combines a Dec 2024 AMA, a 2024 off-campus fresher post (published Mar 2026) and 2025 posts. GRiD 8.0 format (SQL + DataFrame) is from 4 candidate posts in the same week; problems in post 8408464 are candidate reconstructions. Most experienced data is SDE 2 at 2.5 to 3.2 YOE. OA platform for fresher and GRiD 7.0/8.0 tests is not named in posts. Group companies (Cleartrip, super.money) run similar but not identical loops. Levels.fyi figures are per-level values converted at the site's displayed rate. Web search budget was exhausted in this pass, so Glassdoor, Reddit and Blind were not checked; LeetCode Discuss search was used instead.
