Interview process

New grad

  1. Application. careers.oracle.com (Oracle Recruiting Cloud). Campus roles are tagged 'Campus'. US OCI Feb 2027 undergrad cohort (posted Sep 30, 2026): Bachelor's by Jan 2027, fully in office in Nashville, and no visa sponsorship of any kind, explicitly including F-1 OPT and CPT. Minimum qualifications must be visible on your resume (two or more languages, three or more CS areas).
  2. Online assessment (India campus). 2 coding questions plus MCQ sections: aptitude and logical reasoning, reading comprehension, probability, OS, DBMS, computer networks, OOP, SQL, REST/API basics. Some campus OAs are DP plus bit manipulation.
  3. Technical interviews (India campus: 2 to 3 rounds). Resume walkthrough (internships, projects, messaging queues, Redis AOF vs RDB), DSA on the simpler side (linked lists, LIS, LCA, Dijkstra, arrays/strings, basic DP), CS fundamentals (OOP, DBMS indexing, process vs thread), SQL queries (joins, second-highest sale), simple LLD (parking lot, library management), and puzzles. ML/AI projects were given extra preference in 2025.
  4. HR round. Final HR or managerial conversation.
  5. IC1/IC2 loop (OCI and other orgs; US and India). Recruiter call, a 60-min technical screen on HackerRank/CodePair (2 problems or 1 problem plus experience questions), then about 4 x 60-min onsite rounds: coding, design-and-code, system design, and a 'bartender' (bar-raiser) round. Behavioral questions appear in every round. A 'junior' IC2 loop (Oct 2025; org and country not stated) included two LeetCode hards, a system design (review app), and a union-find medium.

Intern

  1. US intern interview. A 1-hour slot combining behavioral and coding (Feb 2026 report). Coding can be hard: Consecutive Numbers Sum was asked for a SWE intern (Oct 2025).
  2. Team placement. A Summer 2026 candidate who interviewed for a Java SWE intern role (Oracle Health and Analytics) was moved to a full-stack AI/data platform intern role after the team turned FT-only; offer $46/hr, start dates in May or June.
  3. India campus intern. Same campus process as new grads (OA, 2 to 3 technical rounds, HR); ASE track pays a 6-month internship stipend and converts to FTE.
  4. Posting status. As of Oct 4, 2026, a search of Oracle's US campus listings showed the OCI Feb 2027 undergrad role and Summer 2027 sales and finance intern roles, but no Summer 2027 SWE intern requisition yet.

With 1 to 3 years of experience

IC2 (2 to 5 yrs) India: recruiter screen (sometimes via Naukri), then 2 rounds (DSA plus Core Java on a live HackerRank link; hiring manager) or a 5-round loop: DSA (Cheapest Flights Within K Stops), Java plus SQL plus string coding, HM with HLD (log ingestion, auth vs authorization, JWT), experience and behavioral, microservices plus spotting bugs in Java snippets plus a pick/not-pick DP. OCI loops: phone screen mixing project walkthrough, cloud concepts (load balancers, caching, API gateways) and a DSA design problem; then coding with thread-safety follow-ups (thread-safe LRU), a bartender round run by a PMTS (project 'why' questions, difficult stakeholders), HM HLD (concurrent job orchestrator with priorities), and a 20-min design (menu content management). Oracle Health loops (Feb 2025): coding plus a behavioral question in each round, a senior-manager bar-raiser-style round, and inventory-management system design.

Online assessment

  • Platform: HackerRank for screening tests and live coding pads; campus OA platform not consistently named in reports.
  • Format: India campus: 2 coding questions plus MCQ sections (aptitude, reading comprehension, probability, OS, DBMS, networks, OOP, SQL, REST). Experienced: 60-min HackerRank coding test or a live HackerRank session with 2 problems.
  • Notes: Reported campus OA problems: Minimize Maximum of Array, a JSON diff tool for two large JSON objects, '01' to '10' simultaneous swaps (Time Needed to Rearrange a Binary String), skip up to k classes to minimize daily span, make all elements equal with *2/+1/-1/ceil-half operations (Aug to Nov 2025).

Coding rounds

  • Rounds: Campus: 2 to 3 technical rounds with DSA. US OCI: phone screen plus 2 to 3 onsite coding or design-and-code rounds.
  • Style: Campus: LeetCode easy to medium (linked lists, LIS, LCA, Dijkstra). US OCI and IC2: medium to hard (sliding-window hard, design-and-code a file system, union-find, Implement Trie, Merge k Sorted Lists style), often with thread-safety or scaling follow-ups.
  • Environment: HackerRank CodePair; some interviewers let you pick any language (Python allowed in an IC2 round). OCI expects a dry run and working code.
  • Graded on: Working code that passes all test cases (an IC2 candidate was rejected for not passing every case on two problems), dry run, complexity, edge cases, plus behavioral signals collected in every OCI round.
  • Reported focus topics: Linked lists (cycle, nth from end, intersection, sorted merges), Trees (LCA, BST construction, Trie), DP (LIS, pick/not-pick, Consecutive Numbers Sum style math), Binary search on answer and greedy (Minimize Maximum of Array), Graphs (Dijkstra, Cheapest Flights, union-find), Stacks and expression conversion (postfix/prefix), Design-and-code: file system, LRU with thread safety, phone directory, CS fundamentals: OS, DBMS, networks, OOP, SQL, Java, Spring Boot, microservices (experienced)

Run every practice problem through the 45-minute framework and the code quality rubric.

Beyond LeetCode

Bartender (bar-raiser) round focused on behavioral and project walkthrough, sometimes with an HLD. CS-fundamentals and aptitude MCQs in campus OAs. SQL query writing (joins, aggregations, second-highest). Java/microservices rounds including finding bugs in given Java snippets. Design-and-code rounds (file system, phone directory with range queries). Puzzles in campus interviews. Official 'Getting hired' page links Oracle recruiter guides on technical interviews, behavioral interviews, interview mistakes, campus resumes, and AI use in job search.

System design

Campus (IC0/IC1): simple LLD such as parking lot or library management. US OCI IC2 (even 'junior' roles): a full system design round (review app, Oct 2025) and a design-and-code file system problem. India IC2/SMTS: HLD inside the HM round (log ingestion, concurrent job orchestrator with priorities and autoscaling, menu content management), plus Java microservices questions. Oracle Health: inventory management with third-party vendor APIs.

Start with who needs system design, then the framework.

Behavioral

Framework: No public interview framework. Oracle's Code of Ethics lists core values: Integrity, Ethics, Mutual Respect, Teamwork, Communication, Innovation, Customer Satisfaction, Quality, Fairness, Compliance. Loops across OCI, Oracle Health and other orgs include a 'bartender' round (Oracle's bar raiser) led by a senior engineer (PMTS) or senior manager, reported from IC2 to Principal level between Oct 2025 and Aug 2026; besides behavioral and project deep dives it can include an HLD (URL shortener, hospital management). Behavioral questions also appear in other rounds. (official page)

What they look for:

  • Clear reasons behind every design choice in your projects
  • Handling difficult stakeholders and disagreements with managers
  • Customer focus (prioritizing customer needs)
  • Delivering under deadlines and pressure
  • Ownership: going above and beyond, cutting scope sensibly
  • Communication across teams

Questions to prepare:

  • Tell me about a time you disagreed with your manager.
  • How do you handle deadlines and pressure?
  • How do you manage difficult stakeholders?
  • Tell me about a big obstacle you overcame.
  • Tell me about a time you prioritized customer needs over your team's needs.
  • Tell me about a time you went above and beyond.
  • Tell me about a time you reduced the scope of an epic.

Build your answers with the story bank. Company detail: behavioral guide.

Tips

  • International students: read the visa line on every US Oracle posting; the OCI Feb 2027 undergrad cohort posting says no sponsorship at all, including F-1 OPT and CPT.
  • For India campus OAs, revise OS, DBMS, networks, OOP, SQL and aptitude; the MCQ sections carry real weight alongside 2 coding questions.
  • Prepare for the 'bartender' round like a bar raiser: 6 to 8 STAR stories on stakeholders, disagreements, customer focus and scope cuts, plus a detailed project walkthrough.
  • In OCI rounds, finish with a dry run and working code, then expect a thread-safety or scaling follow-up (thread-safe LRU, concurrent schedulers).
  • Learn basic system design before your first OCI loop; even 'junior' IC2 loops included a full design round.
  • If the role lists Java, prepare Core Java, Spring Boot, microservices and SQL; one round asked candidates to find bugs in Java snippets.
  • On campus, check whether an offer is ASE (IC0) or MTS (IC1); base pay and RSUs differ sharply.
  • Do not resign on a verbal offer; several 2026 candidates waited over a month for the written letter during a reported freeze.

4-week plan for Oracle

Do this after you finish a core list like Grind 75 or NeetCode 150.

  • Week 1: Solve problems 1 to 20 from the most frequent list. Time-box each at 30 minutes.
  • Week 2: Solve problems 21 to 40. Re-solve any you failed in week 1 without looking.
  • Week 3: Solve the signature problems and every reported question above. Do 2 timed mock interviews.
  • Week 4: Write 8 stories for the No public interview framework. Oracle's Code of Ethics lists core values: Integrity, Ethics, Mutual Respect, Teamwork, Communication, Innovation, Customer Satisfaction, Quality, Fairness, Compliance. Loops across OCI, Oracle Health and other orgs include a 'bartender' round (Oracle's bar raiser) led by a senior engineer (PMTS) or senior manager, reported from IC2 to Principal level between Oct 2025 and Aug 2026; besides behavioral and project deep dives it can include an HLD (URL shortener, hospital management). Behavioral questions also appear in other rounds. round. Do 2 full mock loops. Review the online assessment and system design notes above.

Sources

Watch out: Oracle runs many semi-independent orgs (OCI, Oracle Health, Analytics, Applications, NetSuite, IGIU/CGIU in India) and loops differ by org; most 2025 to 2026 reports are India campus or experienced hires, with thin US new-grad data. Level names conflict: Levels.fyi labels IC-2 'Member of Technical Staff', while India campus posts call IC1 'MTS-1' and IC0 'ASE'. 'Bartender' as Oracle's bar-raiser round name comes from eight candidate reports (Oct 2025 to Aug 2026, OCI, Oracle Health and other orgs, IC2 to Principal), not an official page. Oracle's official interview-advice posts are linked from the Getting hired page (blogs.oracle.com/jobsatoracle: ace-your-technical-interview, how-to-prepare-for-behavioral-interview-questions, top-tips-to-prepare-for-an-interview) but returned 403 when fetched on Oct 4, 2026: [UNVERIFIED] content. The values list comes from the 2017 Code of Ethics PDF; no newer careers-facing values page was found. Layoff and hiring-freeze notes are candidate reports, not official statements. The no-sponsorship rule is stated for the OCI Nashville undergrad cohort posting only; check each posting. LeetCode posts read in full via LeetCode's API on Oct 4, 2026. Fact-check pass (Oct 4, 2026): OCI Feb 2027 undergrad posting re-verified via Oracle's recruiting REST API (Nashville, fully in office, no sponsorship incl. F-1 OPT/CPT, $74,100 to $148,300, apply window at least 3 days); Code of Ethics values re-read from the PDF (2017 edition); Oracle jobsatoracle blog posts still return 403. Fixes: the Oct 2025 'junior IC2' loop names neither OCI nor a country, so it is no longer labeled 'US OCI'; intern team names are attributed to candidate reports.
